Hi, I've been reading some posts and noticed that apparently putting damp proof 'stuff' over render is bad? My house had render over the damp proof course and i asked a builder to remove it. He removed it and replaced it with more render mixed with damp proof stuff, when queried he said this was a recognised way of dealing with the problem - should I be calling him back and asking if he can remove the render that he so painstakingly applied?

Katy I have some pictures of my extention before and after render was removed from below the DPC. The effect was amazing. I can post these if you want with a bit of effort I think.

I was advised by Thompson that nothing should bridge the DPC and that the brickwork below should be allowed to breathe otherwise it can trap water. This was because I wanted to paint Thomspon water seal on the brickwork below the DPC and they said absolutely not.

Yes, that's what he's done. Thanks for the advice. I'll ask him to come and re-do the work - should go down well!

Thanks for the offer of the photos - if not too much effort would be very interested in seeing them.
