Hi All,

I have a Crosswater shower that I need to source a replacement Thermostatic Cartridge for.
It is as original XCP0000251B model. I have tried Crosswater and the usual suspects but no one has any in stock as I believe it is a 2009 issue, just before they switched to the first replacement (same model number but no ridges near the top of the spindle) which was then replaced by the TCG531FA1. If anyone has one knocking around or knows of another type that can be used as a replacement; then I'd be jumping for joy as it is a great shower and would prefer to keep it. (pics attached)

I have not no, if they say it's not right then it's not. Shower doctor are pretty good on these things.

Have you asked them if it is possible to cut it down, or does the mechanism go right to the end?

Checked and it is too big. Will cross my fingers and hope that someone has one knocking around in their workshop.

Have you had any success sourcing a replacement? I am having the same problem as you. Thanks.

Hi Jonathan,
Not as yet, but I managed to semi repair the current one. I squeezed 4 limes into a small tupperware thing and added the cartridge and a little water and left it soaking for 3 days, turning the control every now and then. It eventually seemed to free up (although it didnt feel stiff to begin with) and turn a lot smoother. I removed the cir-clip and pushed the control slightly back into the housing and soaked it for another day. Rinsed it off and refitted the cartridge. It now works again, NOT PERFECT but have enough control to have about 60% temp variation, enough for what I need. no issues at all since then. Still on the search, hoping someone finds one in the back of their spares rack someday :)

Hi
I know this is an old thread but I have the same shower (installed September 2008) and recently the shower has been getting colder and colder so I suspect there is a problem with the thermostat

I spoke to Crosswater and they have sent me a replacement thermostat, but from reading the above it's this design:

https://www.showerdoc.com/crosswater-rv-multifunction-thermostatic-cartridge-new-style-tcg531fa1

which I suspect will not fit, so may need to service the existing one

I'm not a plumber but I can't find any instructions on how to remove and refit the cartridge. is it straightforward? any pictures please to show what needs to be removed?

thanks for any assistance

shower doc and other similar named companies have videos on a well known site.

Search for UK sourced information, you know it makes sense.

Good luck
