Thermal Bridge across RSJ?

So you are likely to get away with more than the worst case, which the regs and calculations assume. I presume that's what woody is getting at when he differentiates the worst case theory with the actual situation.
I don't know what either of you mean :!:

That sketch does not insulate the flange where the cold bridge occurs. Looks a tricky detail at the interface of wall/floor/decking - needs a proper construction detail drawing. Looks as though there might be some other 'interesting' construction details on that job.

in other words, you don’t know..

:mad:Really do you think so , I've done more architectural details than you have had hot dinners. If you come on here asking for advice and people try to help with comments don't be such a smart arse. I have told you that detail is no good, you need a proper construction detail drawing.

Woody i assume means in the real world you can get away with a lot that wouldn't be allowed through by an architect or SE
And i mean that's because the architect or SE has to guarantee their solution will work so where appropriate will assume various worst case values which don't always apply.
Or as our se put it, "I don't worry about how the existing stays up, I'm only concerned with the new work."

Nice way to throw someone's knowledge and effort back in their faceo_Ohow many times has leofric replied on your thread alone with useful info? (Clue: far more than anyone else)

The sketches provided are more than sufficient to show the problem. Unlike you being a typically unhelpful smart arse, the other comments have been constructive. If you have nothing constructive to offer as a suggested solution then please feel free to scroll on.

As usual with this forum, you get those who try to offer constructive solutions and those who prefer to wave their dicks around. As I said, there is more than enough detail in the sketches to identify the issue, simply saying you need proper construction drawings is no use and simply helps the self appointed experts to hide behind their qualifications.

Thank you John D. Much appreciated.(y)

No, I'm not going to take the bait, no further comment.

Wow. First an air brick thread and now a steel beam post and diynot goes into meltdown.

Watch out for my forthcoming post about a creaking floorboard and the gloves will certainly be coming off.
