I need to re-felt a peaked shed roof. The roof is made up of thin timber slats and I would like to be able to re-felt without using the usual "tacks" which have penetrated these slats during recent repairs. Is it possible to use adhesive otl. I will need to overlap one strip of felt on each side due to the width of the sides.

How thick is the timber on the roof? You can get clout nails in different lengths, shortest is usually 13mm.
You can get cold applied felt adhesive in a tin, not sure how well this lasts.......
Or you can get "torch on" roofing felt, which you need a gas torch for.

Have used cold adhesive on sheds , works ok, can be combined with clouts on top edge as the overlap will cover them.
Another option would be to use the cold felt adhesive, but also use thin timber strips over the top, held down with clout nails.
Truthfully, I'm pretty surprised that even the smallest clout nails are penetrating through. A couple of mm of felt, suggests that's a *very* thin timber roof?

I've never had clout nails go through any of my timber shed roofs yet. They do come in different sizes, some barely penetrate the felt so should be ok.
If you haven’t yet bought the materials I’d suggest Epdm instead of felt as it’ll last decades rather than years
If they barely penetrate the felt then I can't see them holding the felt down securely in windy weather.
The cold adhesive certainly works - I had shed delivered and installed and that is what they used. A few years later the i had to replace the felt (torn by tree branches) andhad trouble getting the old felt off. They had stuck it to the boards as well !
