Yep. Read years ago a column from Clive James about his COPD and how it meant he could no longer fly from UK to Oz. I guess that's what got him in the end.
What happened to Rhode though, cancer? Said his wife was by his bedside, so I assume it was something like that.
Never heard of Jonathan Miller though.

Dork doesn't like 'slebs' of any description & especially the sub breed of 'slebs' who invent themselves to be chefs. I actually liked Gary Rhodes for his personality, I reckon me & him would've enjoyed a pint . . . .

I guess when your times up your times up, it would be nice to be surrounded by those important in your life but it doesn't always work out that way does it?

Clive James was always interesting and funny; and a climate change sceptic. Read his essay on it here:

I particularly like this bit, which describes climate change alarmists, but could also be applied to EU remain voters:

"Alarmists have always profited from their insistence that climate change is such a complex issue that no ‘science denier’ can have an opinion about it worth hearing. For most areas of science such an insistence would be true. But this particular area has a knack of raising questions that get more and more complicated in the absence of an answer to the elementary ones"

As brilliant and as funny as he was...

Could you list his scientific qualifications?

After all, despite all the available health evidence he was a heavy drinker/smoker

Greta Thunburg is a very popular climate change activist. She has been presented with a 'Ambassador of conscience' by Amnesty international and has been nominated for a Nobel peace prize. What qualifications does she have?

@ellal. How about you listing your qualifications or skills and experience that warrants you posting on a DIY forum. You never did say what you did professionally, did you? (And I bet you still won’t). Go ahead, complain again.

As are lots of doctors, solicitors, etc. The average alccy has an above average IQ.

Ken Dodd, Clive James and Boris Johnson were all popular entertainers.

None of them showed any aptitude for running a country or researching global climate change.

Anyone can 'research' climate change and come up with the 'research' needed to back up their case. Doesn’t mean it will be correct or accurate.

There are always people who have contrary opinions.

Here's one who was very prominent in the UK media until recently as a climate-change denier

Who to believe, hmmm?

The problem was that BBC producers felt impelled to provide balance, so for every truthful guest, they liked to provide an untruthful one.

Eventually there was an outcry when he was permitted to spout lies without being challenged
