Bulb Help

Electronic ballasts will only work with 4 pin lamps, a 4 pin PLS bulb will not fit your existing lampholder.
A Tridonic EC36 magnetic ballast or similar would run ther 2 pin lamp

Thanks for your replies, would a Helvar L36 A-T work? I have one of these. I just don't want the lamp to explode or something daft!

Personally, I would change the pendant (is it a pendant?) for a standard bayonet fitting and put in a common or garden LED lamp.

That Helvar choke is mainly for a 36 watt tube, the idea of the choke is too limit the current through the lamp filament, that current is usually different for a tube or a pl lamp, the difference between a choke for a Tube as opposed to a choke for a 36w pl lamp is minimal and some can do either, i dont have figures too hand.
Some chokes will have it marked on it often as 36w TC

Id say it would be fine, it wont blow up, just maybe affect the length of the life of the lamp slightly.
A Four microfarad lighting capacitor could also be placed across the supply but not essential.
