Guys

We have just set up an office and need to run electrical points to a central island of 6 desks. (3 lots of 2 desks back to back)

The distance from the closest plug to the furthest desk is 8m and we would require around 10 sockets split between two desks (4 Pc monitors, 2 PC,s and a couple of phone chargers etc.)

The longest 8/10 gang I could find was 5m, are 10m x 10 gang ext. possible ?
I definatly don't want to string extensions together.

Any safe options aside from getting a sparkie to run new points under the desks?

Thanks

Thanks for the reply guys

Each of the extensions would be ran directly for a wall socket at the opposite end of the desk island

But will they be draped across the floor to the island or will they go up, across the ceiling, and down?

For the loads presented by PCs, monitors etc. there'd be no electrical problem running a single extension lead from a wall socket to under the island then stacking short 4 way extensions as required. But (as a temporary installation) you'd have to change it every 13 weeks (IIRC). Has the place got suspended ceilings or raised floors for services (presumably you're going to need network to these PCs as well). If not then get LAN and mains installed to the ceiling & dropped down in compartmented trunking (or under the floor if at all possible). You're in a commercial setting- you cannot have cables permanently gaffer-taped to the floor- it looks rubbish, eventually someone will trip/slip[ and put a claim in and you'll wish you'd spent the few hundred quid to do the job properly

Ahh sorry; along the floor about 1.5m to the start of the desk

The floor area that the cable/s (+ current cable cover) is situated is closed off from foot traffic by side desks with printers etc.

A sketch might be handy. If you have a safe mechanically protected cable route then run your single long extension to the island & connect your x 10 monster to it. There's nothing wrong with using stacked 4 way blocks for the trivial loads presented by IT gear (apart from the job looking scruffy)- it is perfectly safe and acceptable.
