ears have been knocked off official projections of children's life expectancies in the UK, an Office for National Statistics (ONS) report shows.

A baby girl born in 2019 is now expected to celebrate three fewer birthdays on average, than under previous calculations.

Official 2014 data thought that girl would make it to 93.6. Now the figure is 90.4.

The report also slashed the likelihood of children reaching 100.

Some people think it's ironic that many older people, who love the Cons and keep voting for them, have the most need of the NHS and other public services, that the Cons dislike and cut.

Thus shortening the lives of their supporters.
 
Not ironic at all. Inheritance tax.

Make people pay for a health system through taxes, dismantle the system, let them die, tax their death. Gotta love the Tories!

Drugs are currently bought from private companies in US by the NHS on a commercial basis in the same way they are from private companies in the EU. NICE decides what we can and can't afford and if the privately run US companies want to sell their drugs to the NHS then they have to so on a commercial basis a price NICE decides is reasonable.

If a US company wants to raise its prices it already can, which is exactly the same as EU drug companies. NICE then either accepts the rise, sources an alternate drug from another supplier which means that the US company loses the business, or NICE withdraws the drug entirely if there isn't an alternate but NICE deems the price rise inappropriate.

Brexit is the catalyst that changes the status quo.
The UK will have a massive loss of negotiating power and it will need a US deal......and the price of a US deal: increased drugs costs.

The brexit 'take back control' argument forgets........the other side takes back control. Combine that with the UK suddenly becoming much weaker, its not hard to see how this story is the start of an endless river of trade negotiations which leave the UK weaker.

Boris Johnsons government are championing a hard Brexit, so they will be the one owning it. The doubling down of brexit lies will increase exponentially next year, it will all hinge around how long Johnson can throw money at it to keep the truth hidden.

So,

A girl who hadn't even been born when the guess was made, is now guessed to live for three fewer years than she was previously guessed to?

Good, hard data, right there(y)
 
There have been no cuts to the NHS, spending on it increases every year without exception. The present problems, long waiting lists etc., are due to increased demand, and that increased demand is due to the mass immigration of the past 20 years (i.e. since Blair).

Older people over 50 are the largest users of the NHS.
