welding exhaust?

I have a 55 plate V6 Mondeo estate which has been a faithful servant for many years. However, the flexible pipe which connects the manifolds to the catalytic converter has cracked and my garage cannot source a replacement. Apart from being old there are not many 3 litres V6s about!
Common sense tells me it is time to scrap it but I am reluctant to just throw it in the skip.
Is removing the pipe and getting it welded a practical proposition?
Any thoughts would be welcome

Or take it to a custom exhaust place.

Good grief a custom exhaust place????? That will cost way more than the car is worth. If it's just a bit of flexi pipe I wouldn't have thought that would be too hard to source. Find another garage I don't think the one you went to wants your custom

Motor factors also have a range of flexible couplings so its likely that something could be cobbled up....Im surprised that Ford cant supply one though

Welding isnt a suitable repair here, especially if the coupling is braided.

Not necessarily, it really depends what's needed, if it's a short bit of pipe with a flange on each end it may not be that much. He doesn't want a whole new exhaust.
