The US is the most expensive place in the world to give birth. According to Truven Health Analytics, the average bill for a natural birth in the US comes in at $30,000 (£24,000). That figure rises to $50,000 (£39,000) for a Caesarean section delivery.

The average cost for a normal delivery or planned Caesarean section in the NHS in England in 2016 is £1755, rising to £2582 if there are complications.

"As someone who deals with American hospitals, they HAVE to document everything on a bill . If they don't then lawsuits and auditors pounce,"

A privatised service requires more admin and legal staff because you are dealing with transactions and billing for everything.

The US spends about 25% of their healthcare costs go to administration whilst the "inefficient" NHS the spend is nearer 10% and that is due to the idiotic reforms of the internal market implemented by the Conservatives.

So those poor people in the Deep South that haven’t got a pot to p1ss in and knock out half a dozen kids spend $180,000 on births do they? Use a bit of common, FFS!

Neonatal and infant mortality rate in USA is worse than in Western Europe.

It is particularly bad among the poor and in the Southern states you have in mind.

Mississippi is the worst

It is extremely bad among black births

Infant mortality rate is better in Cuba than in USA.

Why don't you learn something you fool.

They use Medicaid in the US. The Government pays. But the Hospitals charges the Government the high costs.

Why do the Hospitals charge the high costs - as explained above

"As someone who deals with American hospitals, they HAVE to document everything on a bill . If they don't then lawsuits and auditors pounce,"

So when you complain about NHS Red Tape, a private system will be more efficient is completely wrong.

Pregnant women qualify for Medicaid, which is paid for by the government, if they do not have insurance.

Even America provides some welfare, shocking as it may seem. The USA must have been overrun with commies!

Some hospitals charge up to $100,000 for child birth if the mum needs to stay in for a while. America is the most expensive place in the world to have a baby.

I don't think he's interested in that.. just knocking your posts. I suspect that you could write something he agrees with but he'd still knock it! Weird bloke.
Lol....so true...same as Jonhd Lal and Notchy .EFL argues with himself

What a ridiculous concept.Producing a bill for work done.

Like a cotton Bud.

You fool.

Shows just how deranged your thinking is.

Irony is this. Are you self employed?

In the US your employer provides health insurance, yet even the likes of Microsoft are cutting back. Large companies can try negotiate better premiums but as a self employed person you would either pay through the nose or like most get a policy that doesn't cover much and has high deductibles.

But thats what you wanted.

Then if the same system is over here, what’s the problem - won’t cost anything for those bints that have 5 kids by 25 different fathers!

I think the problem is that the American hospitals charge the government about 5 times more - whereas in the UK the government owns the hospitals so it cannot be screwed over a barrel. At least, not yet.

Privatising will mean the hospitals charge the tax payer more for the same service. This is why nationalising rail and utilities is good for the people too
