I honestly don’t know any 'yoofs' that have gone to Europe for work, fun or life changing experiences.
That explains it then...

'All work and no play' certainly makes mottie a very very dull and prejudiced person!

The Brexit gift that keeps giving.

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2019/dec/11/brexit-hits-uk-ski-and-holiday-staff-overseas

A third of UK seasonal jobs in ski resorts and summer activity holidays have disappeared because of fears over Brexit, research shows.

Many are looking at closing down, he says, threatening a £16bn contribution to Britain’s economy, £1bn of which goes directly to the Exchequer in tax receipts.

Dan Fox, the managing director of Ski Weekends, said the EU had “brought us the most incredible benefits of freedom of movement of our staff, transport and resources”, and holidaymakers had benefited because of the explosion in small companies able to offer a diverse range of holidays.

Very sloppy story, there is a general decline in skiing in Europe and NA, mainly due to the fact that Millenials and GenZ don't ski much compared to older generations (possibly the one's who voted for brexit ) Climate change hasn't helped either, I sure brexit hasn't helped, but to blame a "global" skiing malaise on brexit alone is silly.

One could be mistaken for thinking they had an axe to grind http://sbit.org.uk/news/

Really? I'd hate to see what Ischgl was like before the decline. The place was absolutely rocking last year.

Yeah it's declining, just look it up. In the US only 50% of Millenials who go to ski resorts actually ski, and they don't spend much, skiing among Millenials is less than half that of baby boomers (in their day)

Another prat who can only equate brexit with dislike of people from other countries..Then tells us brexit heroes we are small minded!!!!!.lOl.The Irony

Brexiteers are small minded.

Why else do they believe simplistic slogans which arent true.

There’s roughly 195 countries in the world at the moment and you’re worrying about just 27 of them. Anyone would think that you consider Europe the be all and end all of everything. I spent over a year working abroad and it wasn’t in Europe. This might encourage young people in the UK to broaden their horizons and actually travel instead of just popping next door.

The UK exports £290 billion of stuff to the EU.
The UK has full regulatory alignment with the EU which has a 22% gdp of the entire world trade.
The EU is 30mins train ride from the UK

I wonder why its an attractive destination, more so than Somalia.

High Tech skills are in short supply and it was so easy to recruit people from the EU. Now we will have to jump through hoops but speaking to a few EU contractors many of them said they feel the mood has changed so even if we gave them an uplift they may not return.

So looks like less work being completed in the UK and more in the EU - all those tax receipts gone.

Madness.

You must have a different experience, we don't and haven't really enagaged EU contractors for yonks, theyre mainly from India, Thailand, china, ukraine, no problems for us on that front.

Up here in Scotland, where a lot of English skiers [appear] to enjoy themselves on the slopes the Cairngorm Ski Company have made hundreds of tons of artificial snow to get ready for the influx of English tourist skiers.

It is a problem lack of snow, but that is one of the spin offs of global warming, at least we are trying to provide a good substitute for all the English who come up here to Ski ?

In what area is that?
