Hi. Have recently done up my house including putting in a brand new staircase. We moved in June this year but have started to notice a number of cracks in the staircase which has got me concerned. Not sure if they are cosmetic or structural issues? I have 2 sets of stairs - one to the first floor, the other to the loft.

Nothing to worry about, it's just dried out and cracked. Wood to wood joints crack when one piece shrinks and the point where plaster touches any item such as a staircase, window, door etc.. does the same.

I have exactly the same from recent loft conversion. I couldn't help myself to paint it, but will now just leave it a while before repairing
