Polycarbonate overlap time roof bar issue

I wanted 16mm thick 800mm wide polycarbonate sheets for my patio canopy. I waited till the roof bars arrived to measure the width of the middle of them so I know how much gap between sheets and therefore beam centres. There’s a 10mm rubber seating in the bars. Therefore I allowed fir this, the sheets overlap 10mm each side onto the bars perfectly.

the problem is the sheets are cut down the centre of the wall of the sheets so the ends of the sheets are in fact not walled but overhang and quite flimsy. When I secure this 10mm bit over the bar and snap down I’m concerned it’s not actually that secure as it 10mm of flimsy thin plastic and not over the sheet wall.

Will this be an issue? Should I request my sheets actually have the sheet wall on the ends not nothing?

or will it be ok due to screwing into purlins and therefore be secure enough? So the roof bar is not securing it too much.
Or maybe it’s ok as it’s 3.5m of roof bar is long enough to keep it secure?

If I hold the edge down with my fingers When underneath and force it up with my head, it doesn’t seem like it would come out especially when secured to purlins so maybe it’s ok. I just expected the edge to be stronger seen as it gets clamped under roof bars.

Fit an end cap strip, and maybe a timber noggin for support.

When I say purlin I think it’s noggin. I got two timber noggins across from beam to beam to screw sheets onto so they may enough. I’ll give it a good push up when it’s done to check.

You could fit "something" into the edge- maybe several runs of silicone, allowing them to dry and fill the edge? Or timber?
With my similar conservatory, the sheets are actually held from slipping downwards (lean too structure) by a single nail in the centre of the top of the sheet. It's covered by the flashing anyway.

That’s a good idea. Will think about that.

not concerned about the slipping. As it’s a patio canopy I’m more concerned with high wind in a storm. It will basically be a sail. So needs to be secured from upward force.
