How to chase big enough slot for Lead flashing?

My angle grinder disc is 2mm or 3mm. How do I chase a higher gap? I can’t find any info about this. All images and videos show bigger gaps. I don’t think 3mm would be enough for lead and sealant especially where the lead will overlap.

do I make 3 or 4 runs to get a gap 3 or 4 x the thickness of the blade?

can I fix multiple blades to the grinder simulating a thicker grinder blade?

Can’t seem to find blades that are like 10mm thick or more.

And then what’s a good height for the chase? One site says 10mm but again, not much info online.

are you chasing out mortar between brickwork?

It’s pebbledash so if I go deep enough I’ll probably miss any motor and am assuming it could be brick.

also the sloping edge of my canopy is against part of the house so at an angle that will go through brick.

Do more than one cut. You can’t stack the blades.

They do make thicker blades for that purpose.

Ok but can’t for the life of me find thicker ones online. They don’t even specify the thickness online just the diameter and bore size. Not even on sites like Screwfix etc. I bought the one I have from Homebase and they’re all like 2mm to 3mm. Although I know Homebase would be a bit more limited to others but still, can’t find thicker ones online.

But is a mortar raking blade suitable for brick? I’ll be going through pebbledash but am likely to go through brick if I go deeper which I think I should as pebbledash doesn’t look deep enough.

just use normal diamond blade and cut at different angle each pass until wide enough.

Or if you want to be in the mortar do a vertical cut at one end to find it then follow it along level.

use a bigger cutter... 240 or 300 mm the blade is thicker and gets you out of the render

Just a quick update to say thanks I went to B&q and they have 8mm 115 discs so those worked. As it’s pebbledash I managed only 20mm deep but it was enough to get the hall clips in and hold the flashing. Had to get a few discs as they wear fast and a 15mm depth wasn’t enough after a bit of wear.
