Where to buy wooden long dowels

Can someone recommend where I can buy long wooden dowels from?
I need super long - as long as I can get.
I need to but into much small pieces.

By chance I found in B&Q today.
I found at a better price on an online timer merchant just now - but they have have a large (one off) delivery charge.

Just wondering where else I should look?

Another useful source is Appleby Woodurnings who also sell on eBay (both tapered pellets and hardwood/softwood dowel rod)

Second vote for Appleby, used their hardwoood dowel blanks to repair a chair.
