"how to wire a Nest" Potterton Performa 30 HE boiler

Just want to add there has never been any thermostat installed on this boiler
 
Terminals 1 and 2 on the boiler to terminals 2 and 3 on the nest.

Fig 30 page 23 of the manual you linked to shows 5 connections Line, Neutral, Earth Thermostat 1, Thermostat 2, and the thermostat 1 + 2 go to CH com and N/O with
Line and Neutral to yes you guessed it L and N the earth is only required if thermostat hard wired to heat link. Clearly the link wire in boiler is removed.

I found wiring easy, it was the setting of the thermostat which caused me problems, names used which I did not know meaning like system boiler.

Just did as informed

Both boiler/ heat link
L = brown
N = Blue

Boiler
1 = Black
2 = Grey

Heat link
2 = Black
3 = Grey

I have tried the about but the heat link will not power up.

Please help

doesnt matter which way the switching wires are at the Heat link, if the heatlink is not coming on you have made a mistake with the Live and Neutral wiring, do not go by colours in a heating system, better if you can post pics of what you have done , at both the boiler end and the heatlink end
