Hi all ,
Happy new year !
A long time vouyer of this site and first post , so please be gentle .

My neff dishwasher has started playing up over the Christmas period !!

I have a red light flashing by the tap icon and also water is not getting hot .

So I jumped on this site for the answer, and came up with a couple of options to hopefully fix .

I did all the first things to do , checked the pipes for blockages cleaned out the Filters , and all clean as a Whistle.

I did some more digging on this site and I have two possible fixes I wish to pursue .

1 : replace the reed switch ( which I also inspected but looks fine , but not certain what a faulty one would look like . This may fix the tap light issue .

2: I plan to check the pcb board for the burnt out relay problem I have read about on this site .

My question is are the two related ??
If I fix the tap light problem with a new reed switch , could this be the reason why I’m getting no heat ??

And visa Versa

I would rather purchase the reed switch first , and don’t really want to take off the door to get to the pcb for no reason .

Any advice would be well received ,
So many thanks in advance.

If the water is not getting hot the first thing you should be checking is the heater, I am of course assuming the dishwasher fills up and washes but the water doesn't get hot?

It is a total waste of money replacing parts that may be faulty but you don't know for sure

Hi , thanks for you’re swift reply , you’re completely right hence my question.

What’s the best way to check if the heater is faulty ??

I will try to look at this after the new year , don’t think I will be much use on New Year’s Day :D

I have looked at a few more posts on the subject and I’m going to check the PCB for the faulty relay , that seems quite common, thanks again, I will post my findings

Do you have the ENR Number.
Is it going into wash or the tap flashing before that.

Hi
The model is s51e50x3gb/47.
I pulled it out the other day and run a cycle I can see a burst of water for a few seconds coming in on the left hand side (a clear maze of pipes , not sure of tech term ) seems to run cycle but just not getting hot.

I am going to check the pcb board next , as doctrines on this site , as seems like a common fault ,but cannot look till Saturday , so if there are any other places to check to fault find you’re help will be well received .

Thanks for the heads up , how can I check that the heat pump has indeed gone ?

Any where I can get a plan to find the location .

Unplug the dishwasher. You will need to remove the front decor panel then the lower metal door panel. Leave the fascia panel on. Then remove the lower inspection panel and you will see the heat pump to the right. These are all torx 20. There are two fat red wires and an earth on the heater part of the heat pump.Check for continuity on the two male pins which had the two red wires on them.

Hi ,
So I pulled the dishwasher out again to check the pump, and checked for continuity as described in you're last post . I have no continu

I have no continuity between the 2 red pins , so the pump must be the culprit, I have posted a couple of pics to show the location of where I checked for others .
I will be ordering the part to swap out .
Thanks again

Is there any signs of leakage around the right side and the back where the plastic base meets the stainless steel cabinet or any brown seepage into the base because these dishwashers leak. Not the cause of the Heat faliure but another problem they have. There is a tub repair kit but that doesn't allways work. Is the tap icon still flashing as there might be another unrelated problem. Don't want to put you off replacing the heat pump but don't want you to chuck good money at it.

Hi , no signs of leakage all dry as a bone .

One thing I do recall is that the bottom sprinkler spinning arm was not spinning when I opened the door when the cycle was running .

Would the faulty heater pump also give a flashing tap icon, or are they separate issues ??

The spray arms turn alternately a minute or so at the top then the bottom for a similar time, so you may not of seen it move. The tap icon I have only seen when the reed switch is faulty but the dishwasher doesn't fill and go into wash. If yours is filling and completing the cycle with just no heat I would hope it is flashing because of the no heat.
