Morning blindness

Ford Quickclear heated windscreens are a godsend, just press the button abd wait a minute and it's a sorted.

Their choice of gearboxes are debatable however..
Worst thing ever, at night it is like driving with a starburst filter on your screen, I couldn't live with it.

Just kick the windscreen out and go for a breezy drive:

I find these days that my glasses that I leave in the car are also frosted so now Im having to wrap them in a cloth to keep them warmer.

Instructions for kicking screen out without climbing on the bonnet ??
I could do it from the inside but can't get my leg over nowadays !!

‘Er indoors tip......
Just before you are about to drive away, start the car, put the fan on the screen and then come back inside to quickly apply the make up.
2 hours later, you’re ready to drive away!
John :)

A few people have said that, I don't notice it day or night to be honest.

Wouldn't be without it now.

Funny, drove our chev estate at the weekend, which I hardly drive these days. Bloody awful, took ages to remove the mist, wiping it hardly helped, fans were useless. I did clear eventually, but feel for anybody who has to deal with that every day!

If the weather is mild, it helps to turn on the aircon to dry the air that is blowing over the screen (in very cold conditions, way below freezing, the outside air holds no water, so as long as you are on fresh air intake, not recycling, no need, and it will push out the humid air inside the vehicle).

Pour hot water on the windscreen. I use a watering-can, filled from the hot tap.

Unlike cold water, it heats the glass, preventing refreezing, and the glass steams to dry, and is mist-free on the inside. I use what's left to clear the lamps and numberplates.

I know someone who uses a kettle of boiling water.

Much entertainment can be gained from watching open-mouthed neighbours who wrongly believe it will crack the glass.

My brother in law cracked his windscreen using boiling water. There was an unrepaired (but very small) stone chip and the crack started there and ran right across the windscreen.

Personally, i find it quickest and easiest to start the engine, put the demist on, and then scrape the windows.

Scraping only takes a minute or so and by that point there's enough heat from the engine to have demisted the windows internally.

The only time i use hot water is when the doors have frozen shut.

I've never used hot water either. Surely by the time you've boiled a kettle you could have warmed the engine a bit?

Maybe a DIY solution - divert the shower waste to flow over the windscreen in the mornings, wash and clear your windows while showering!
