Was I sent the wrong part and isolating the water?

Is it the switch that doesn't work or the solenoid coil?

Not sure what solenoid coil is but when i press the on/off switch where arrow is pointing to in photo (with cover on or off) it doesn't turn shower on or off. I have to use external switch. I can post a closer photo if u like?

That's the on / off switch. If your shower comes on / works fine when you turn on the external switch ( is it ceiling pull cord type ,or wall mounted)?
The switch in your pic is stuck in the " on" position. Nothing wrong with the solenoid ( different part altogether)

I wasn’t sure if the shower was working at all, that’s why I was asking about the solenoid. If shower works as Terry says, it’s not the solenoid.

I was sent this switch assembly. Is that correct? I thought they should have sent me just the switch (other picture).

That black switch is called a latch switch.
It possibly just prises out of the white part. I would be surprised if it isn’t available to buy as an individual part.
I know Redring supplied exact switch as Mira used and look same as in photo to me.
Just 2 push on cables.
Water spray to the outer button on shower casing can penetrate into that latch switch and damage it.

Mira said they sent me the wrong part twice and will refund me.

Some parts you do not buy from Mira as they expect you to purchase a more expensive larger part containing the smaller part you need.
Remember Mira do not actually manufacture a lot of these parts and they are often universal parts used on some other models or different brands.
Often Redring does the parts.
Another example of Mira parts is the Mira Event all in one power showers. The brushes wear on the wee motor (very similar to a motor in a 240volt drill) and Mira do not supply the brushes but only the entire motor with pump assembly for over £100.
But the motor brushes can be purchased from Showerdoc for about £18

Get the same kw rating and go for a left hand fed water and electric points, however, most are now multifit because manufacturers want you fitting their product in retrospect of another.
