I know I'm over thinking the blocking?

Hi Guys,

I know I am over thinking this but if I don't ask and there is a right and wrong way, I know I will get it wrong :)

My 1st floor joists are going in soon and the construction is more or less as per the attached phot from the internet.

I know I have to install 'blocking' between the wall and the joist parallel and nearest to the wall. I am assuming this can simply be an offcut from a piece of leftover joist timber? and that if I am using nominal 47mm wide joists, then the resulting 47mm gap between joist and wall will suffice?

Thanks.

When I did my loft floor I put solid packing at one side and used folding wedges at the other to tighten it up.
