Hi All

Was specking out a job today . Was in the property's garden and noticed 2 of these pointing into the garden from the neighbours garden, thought that's odd unless they are trying to put off burglars seeking access from this garden by setting off lights . Look like a PIR which is fair enough but what's below it ? some sort of speaker ? strange. Does anyone have a clue I'm sure someone does. Cheers

pointing into the garden from the neighbours?

that suggests the neighbours are trying to persecute your client's cats in their own garden.

when no ones looking unscrew them, snip the tags on the transducer and close up again but wear gloves to avoid fingerprints.

So the cats are avoiding the garden where they live and poo behind the scarers in the neighbours garden? Classic

I've got one of those.
Worked for a week or two at reducing cats passing though and ****ting in garden.
But cats got used to it and started ignoring it.

However young kids hate it and complain about its high frequency noise (which I cannot hear).

In summary was a waste of money.

And I feel very poor to point into neighbours garden.

What am I missing?

If they belong to the neighbour, what is the point of them pointing at their next door's garden, or

if they belong to the OP's customer, where else would they point?

I'd guess the neighbour thinks they will only activate when the cat jumps up on the fence. The fence looks very odd in the pic.

The client has just bought the house its a fix up massive detatched almost mansion. ( big job) we were walking round the garden and spotted them. The pic is just above the worlds biggest greenhouse which is on the boarder of neighbours property . Guess the cats ars climbing on the roof and accessing them. Good spot on kids hearing the sound the family have 3 young kids. So i will advise thanks all.

2 of these

My worst night mare as a kid , Ultrasonic cat scares that were supposed to be inaudible to humans, but were in fact painfully audible and unpleasant to me!

They emit various sounds in the 18KHz - 24KHz region usually.

I would happily ban those devices if I could!

As has been suggested, presumably in an attempt to frighten off cats in the OP's client's garden if they approach the fence with a view to crossing it to enter (and 'soil') the garden in which the devices are sited?

However, as has been said, whether one is talking about scarecrows (or variants thereof), electronic gizmos or whatever, most animals tend to rapidly get used to, and hence ignore, things designed to 'frighten them off'!

Kind Regards, John

We put something similar in the loft to stop squirrels, not only did the buggers eat some cable they also ate the scarer.

Thay have goats:D
A word with neighbour, but if kids are bitheted and neighbour won't remove/turn them off then it would be a statutory nuisanceband the council's environmental health bods can get involved.
On tje otjer hand, are they battery powered ? If so, then I could imagine them not working.
