I need to fit my blinds inside the window reveal. The brackets will be need to be fitted on the top section. I assume I will be drilling into the concrete lintel at this point.

Do I need to take any particular steps in terms of drill bit, fixings, etc.

Thanks in advance

Is it usually concrete on the inner leaf? I don't know at the moment

You could always no more nails a batten onto the surface and screw the blind into that, would save the hassle.

Using a standard HSS drill bit drill a small hole through where you want to fix the brackets. Make it deep enough to accommodate the length of plug you think will be suitable.
The dust that comes out should reveal what lies behind if you manage to go deep enough with the drill bit. Particles of steel turnings will obviously indicate a steel lintel. Failure to go deep with the HSS bit, (and no signs of metal dust), will indicate a concrete lintel and you will need to proceed with a masonry bit to drill the correct holes.

Do you have to fit into the lintel? Most blinds come with brackets that can also be fitted into the sides of the reveal.

Roller blinds can have side mounting fixtures but I've never come across vertical blinds or Venetian blinds that have side mounts.

Which type of blinds are you looking to fit?

Thanks for all the responses. Followed the suggestion from @bsr, I did a very unmanly thing of reading the instructions.

A side fitting option is also available.

I have wooden Venetian blinds. Should I opt for the side fitting or top? Also my windows are around 2.3m wide and I would expect a central fitting too. I assume this will have to go into the top.

just fitted 5 wood venetians.
Fixed the brackets to the top of the window reveal. LR window which is around 9ft wide (60's house) had to use the hammer drill as reg' drill wouldn't do the job, but the other 2 windows were fine.
Make sure you set the blinds far enough forward to allow for window handles sticking out.
We used extra support brackets recommended by the company.
In our case, they aren't quite as deep as the end brackets so we had to fix them so they were in line with the front edge of the end brackets, as opposed to lining up with the back edges.

UPDATE: The ceiling reveal had a concrete lintel at the top. My Makita combi drill would not have any of it! I had to use my Bosch mains-powered hammer drill to get through it. This was for the 3 supporting brackets.
The blind also came with end fixings which I was able to drill into the side of the window reveal. This went into blocks (inner leaf of cavity wall).

Thanks for your help.

Welcome. Good job and looks great. Same with our Makita combi. We didn't have a hammer drill (but had been talking about getting one) but it's my favourite toy now! Surprisingly easy to use considering the weight and size.
Now for insulating and boarding the utility room:D
