Reattaching curtain batten without removing it

It’s not even been a year but alas something happened. The two halves of the curtain rail disconnected. The middle edge of one half fell down but I caught it. This put some stress on the batten which has levered away from the wall at the top edge by about half an inch.

There are 7-8 screws along the batten holding it into the wall, and I used some no more nails type stuff.

How can I reinforce the batten without having to take everything down and start again? Ideally I’d want to drill through both batten and wall, insert wall plug and drive in a screw but not sure what sizes to go for.

you could use a frame fixer, just drill through the batten and wall, insert the frame fixer and hammer it in.
You can get away with doing the same with a screw and rawlplug, possibly a screwdriver at the end

6mm multipurpose bit
Drill through both batten and wall to depth of plug
Use 8 gauge screw to knock plug through batten into wall and tighten

Job done

I wish I’d known about this earlier. Then again I didn’t have an SDS drill at the time either. Feels like the batten is solidly affixed.

I now plan to use frame fixers for the two rooms that don’t have curtain battens (previous owners used blinds inside the aperture).

One of my least favourite jobs!

I always seem to end up 'finding' a steel with my drill bit - usually covered over with a chunk of plasterboard and a cavity...I've had to use polyester resin before (cheap one shot ones from lidl) to get a decent hold for a curtain pole.
