Hi,
I am in a new build, since day one, I have had limescale marks in my toilet bowl. I have tried everything to remove the marks, but not been able to.
I put some of those coloured things into the cistern in the hope to flush the thing out, but all it has done is highlight how much water must be drizzling into the bowl all the time.

Does anyone have any ideas on how I can stop this?

How new is new build? If water is trickling into pan, either float valve not shutting off correctly or the flush valve is letting by.

formic acid -gel or liquid

kilrock is one make

but you need to sort out the cistern not turning off

Thanks everyone for your helpful posts on how to remove it. I have informed the builders who say as I am shared ownership, I am outside of my 1 year defect period. The house is not even two years old yet, but if you ask me, it is nothing but another cop out.

The toilet is made by Roca. I have contacted them using their contact form on their site twice and have been ignored. How can such a new pair of toilets both be so crap already?

Can anyone suggest what I can do myself? I have drained both of them, checked the rubber seals in the cistern that release to let the water into the bowl. They seem good, no damage. Not sure what else I can check.

Thanks in advance.

Is there any reason why this filler valve has a red plastic top to it yet the other toilet above doesn't? Both toilets are identical models and both have exactly the same problem.

Do they still trickle through with the lids off? Are they overflowing down the internal overflow pipe, or is it getting through elsewhere? It's possible that it's an installation rather than a manufacturing fault, and the flush valves just haven't been properly sealed into the cisterns

My new build was 2 years defect period, however mine isn’t shared ownership. Roca will probably say it’s to do with the blue/pink loo tablets, which could be the reason for them trickling as when they breakdown they stick to the rubber seal underneath. If you remove the flush valve and clean the seal and don’t use anything other than water, see how it is then.

The cistern blocks ime/imo deteriorate the innards of cisterns anyway.

Hi, this has been doing this since the day I moved in. I put those blue tablets in to try and clean the cistern out thinking maybe there was an obstruction, so Roca can't say it is the tablets as for months, I had exactly the same with normal water.
If anything, the tablets make it easier for me to show in a picture the marks left as before, it was just a clear limescale buildup which was really hard to show in a picture.

I have emailed Roca again, if no joy, I will go back to the builders as I did mention this within a year, but nothing was done. It should be two years as @muggles says, but I think they are trying to fob me off.
More than likely an install fault as @muggles has suggested as I have had a woeful number of issues whereby things were not put in corretly.

If that’s the case, then I’d be thinking the nut that holds the flush valve in place is suspect. Either contact builders again or price up a replacement foam/rubber gasket washer and maybe fix and replace washer yourself?
