Hi All.

I have a lot of PIR insulation both 100mm and 50mm taken off from my roof. I was wondering what else they could be used for ?

Can they be used to insulate stud walls or ceiling joists ?

Thanks in advance.

They’re good for thermal rather than acoustic, so not much point for stud walls. Maybe ground floor floor joists/bay windows/vaulted ceilings

Underfloor if you have suspended timber. Or in the loft to make coldest rooms a bit warmer.

Or ... planning to have a hot tub? Put them down as a base ....

Are you replacing the whole roof? Can't they be used again in new roof?

I think only the roof part applies to me. I was wondering if they can be added to the 270mm wool insulation that needs to be in place for the loft anyway.

yeah, put them down first and lay more loft insulation on top, Maybe put them in the eaves where the loft insulation is sometimes not as thick.

Bigger bits keep for floor insulation or even for the green house in winter.
Smaller bits you always seem to end up with loads of off cuts whatever you do, a bit like timber, you just have to chuck them. At least timber you can take to the recycling place, insulation is classed as general waste so must be binned.
