Can I place an alarm control panel in a garage?

It can get very cold in there and wondered if the battery would be ok in there too?

Many thanks.

If you look at the specification for a control panel battery you will find it probably has an operating temperature in the range of something like -15 to +50 degrees C. In addition the power supply and components inside the panel will generate some heat, so the panel will be a few degrees warmer than the ambient temperature.

Assuming that you have a control panel in mind, the specification should give you its operating temperature range. I've seen many installed in unheated warehouses so I can't imagine you would have a problem.

You will have no problems installing the alarm panel in your garage. I have fitted loads in garages and never had any problems at all.

Most garages will be fine, damp and rodents are your main worries.

If garage is joined to your house then the adjoining wall would be preferable to an outside one.
