Your life would be a lot easier ,and the valve will work just fine ,if you throw away those "s" ( dog leg shaped)? Connectors. And use a fixing kit instead.
Wholeheartedly agree, shocking things. Get your pipe centres dead level and @ 150mm and use a shower fitting kit.
