I need a few tiles to fix broken ones on my roof, perhaps a half dozen or so. Any ideas where to get some?

The house is in Norwich and built in the 30s. They are flat interlocking single roll pantiles that look to have a shape similar to the one below, although mine do not have any glaze. All they say on the underside is "Tuilerie De Libercourt" and "Made in France". They are made of clay, and the same orange color as the one below where it is not glazed.

@ a salvage yard .........in France, or as local to you as possible .

Yes, I will check the salvage yards. Although I have not found anything yet, I did see some old eBay ads for similar tiles offered at some yards in the past.

On my street many of the houses seem have these tiles, so I guess they are not so rare here. I am going to keep my eye out in case anyone decides it is time to re-roof. I would think that most roofers these days would save clay tiles for resale, or is that wishful thinking?

You might consider flipping them instead, they seem to sell, and these salvage places are not cheap. I wouldn't be surprised if when we need to redo our roof, we can pay for a lot of the cost of the new tiles by selling the old ones.

For anyone needing these tiles they have them in stock at RBS Reclaimed Building Supplies in Norwich on Barker Street.

Shouldn't be too hard to find , Common in the south.
We have stripped loads and dumped, They are not in major demand. We could keep them in the yard for years and not sell one

The tiles on my roof are around 90 years old and still in very good shape, except for the few the wind blew off.

The crappy modern concrete ones that they put on our garage, not so much.

If these tiles are so readily available, why would anyone replace their roof? instead of just repairing it with the original tiles?

its a clay product and can fall apart, also fixings can rust and burst the tops out.

People have them stripped and replaced as there are much better products available.

good to hear yours are in good shape. why did they blow off? no fixings?

by the way , the resale is low to zero.

Resale value appears to be 65p per tile.

They are not nailed down anywhere, just cemented on the sides and ridge.

As I mentioned above, RBS in Norwich sells them, and that is what they charge, 65p. I didn't ask about bulk discounts.

If you have such tiles for 10p, just let me know, I'll take 200 square meters worth off your hands if they are in good shape.

I doubt any modern tiles will outlast these.
