Hello alarm gurus,

I have never installed an alarm system before but I am looking forward to giving it a shot.

I have put quite a lot of thought into how we would like the system to work and I believe I have chosen a system that is capable of meeting these requirements but I would like to get the opinions of others that know more than I do and also to ask a couple of questions that I have not been able to find the answers to.

The main building will form one area, there will be 16 zones and 2 remote keypads. This is where the control panel will be located. I will need to install an extender board into the panel I believe to get this number of zones.
There is a second building on site that will be a second area, this will have 8 zones and 1 or 2 remote keypads. There will be an extender in this building.
There is a third building that will form area three, this will have only 4 zones and 1 remote keypad. Again this building will have an extender.

All keypads should by default arm/disarm and show the status of the area the keypad is located in but there should be the option to arm/disarm/get the status of the other areas too.

Everything should be hard wired, nothing should be wireless.
Looking at grade 2 or 3 units.

I have been looking at a Premier Elite 48 or a Premier Elite 88 to meet these requirements. I would be open to suggestions/other products/manufactures also.

Does the above seem reasonable/feasible?
Can each area have its own sounder or will all sounders go off regardless of area in the event of an alarm?
Two factor authentication, is there the facility to have a key-fob and a code that need to be entered to disarm the system?
Can an area be armed automagically if there is no movement from the PIRs in a given time?
Can a user only be given permission to disarm an area only into a part armed state? I am thinking of the cleaning team that only need to access certain areas, they will then full arm on their leaving.

Thank you for your time.

Firstly, the premier 24 is the only Texecom panel that supports the 8XE internal expander, so you would need a an 8XP and a 48 or an 88.

The question is how are you connecting the buildings back to the panel hard wired or wirelessly?

Dual code, would require two codes or 2 fobs, although you ccould have a user with a fob and no code and a user with a code and no fob, I guess, or fob and code for both but vblock the user from using the fob and from using the code on the different users.

Havent done it in ages though.

Hi secureiam,

Thanks for the info about the 8XP.

The buildings will be connected via cable in underground ducting. Building one --- building two --- building three.

Each building is about 40m away from each other.

Building one --40m-- building two --40m-- building three.

I would be tempted to put a powered expander in building 2.

The psu20XP is about £60 dearer than the 8XP on its own and a separate 8XP in building 3 coming from the psu200XP.

This all depends on what your loading on to it I guess keypads, bells, detectors

Thanks secureiam, I will do that.
Any thoughts on the other parts of the design?

Not seen it, I would be tempted for the 88, so you have a few more options available for the future, on the 48 you would have used 3 of the 4 four areas for example.

but only you will know what your future plans could be????

Any ideas on if these kinds of system can arm if there is no movement in a time?

Any thoughts on a user code being able to disarm into a part arm only?

And I am still wondering about the sounders, if they can be assigned to a zone or will they all go off regardless?

You can assign it to what ever area you require , if you need it separate wire it to the expander in that outbuilding and assign it to that area or multiple areas

Thanks sparkymarka, I didn't realise there were alarm outputs on the expanders.

Any ideas on the other two questions?

Never had the need to set it like that ...
Part set ...why ? Are you setting the other buildings as areas ? Which is not part set ...so you can set users to unset area A or B or C only or combo of any

In the first building the cleaning team go into only part of the building and are not permitted to enter the second part. I thought I could split the building onto two areas but I wondered if a user code could unset it into a part set only.

Does this make sense now?
