I live in a bungalow...Im going to be using CAT 6 cable x 2 to run 8 camera's...2 front of bungalow..1 in the porch looking at front door.....2 on the back...and 1 to the side...and leaving 2 outputs for future use...(8 channel)

Now Im getting confused...is NVR better than DVR or the other way round?

Thanks for any help...

NVR ....For IP cameras
DVR....For analog cameras ....but some dvrs do except IP cameras

DVR is analogue or hybrid system that doesn't have a built in ip network to connect the cameras directly to it.

an NVR is an ip system which usually has a POE network for IP cameras

Is it only NVR or DVR confusing you?

Not a maths genius but how is 2 cables going to run 8 cameras? You are suggesting 4 different locations (2 front, 1 porch, 2 back and 1 side) so even if they were close to each other you will still need more than 2 cables.

@lamchaps

Fair point, although it could be done I guess.

Local power and one pair into a balun into an analogue camera.

But not ideal
