New Alarm System Specification

If this is for a commercial installation you may need to check with your insurance provider,as you may require a certified system.

Thanks Handymanjo,
I am aware of the insurance requirements.
I am also keen to learn in case we decided to not install ourselves but hire someone in, at least I will have some knowledge of the state and what to ask a contractor for.
I am fairly sure I have the skills required but I couldn't find out if there was a way of setting the alarm automatically if there is no movement in an area for some time or if a user code can unset only into a part set or if splitting building 1 into two areas would be better and grant the specific area to the cleaning team would be better.

If anyone could give me this information I would be very grateful.

You have to be very specific about how you want to use the system.

but yes you can auto rearm specific areas

you can arm and disarm areas with specific users automatically and lots of other things.

However the behaviour you can have may be limited if the installation needs to confirm to regulations.

The starting point should be right a list of how you want to use the system, don't worry about if it can or cant be done, need to start with what you want and then possibly compromise may be needed so think about if you cant have or what you definitely want it to be able to do.

I doubt there is anyone that knows how to do everything its capable of.

We are happy with the system as I described in the first post but ideally we would like building 3 to be armed automagically if there is no movement detected for like 10 minutes as it is used as a store room. So someone can walk into the store, hear the internal sounder to indicate the alarm will go off if they don't disarm, enter their code/present their fob and get what they need. Ideally they would re-arm the system when they leave but if their arms are full then the area will arm again if there is no movement in 10 minutes.

We would like building 1 to be part disarmed by the cleaning team so they can go about their business but the alarm will still be armed for the area they are not permitted in.

If someone can confirm that the Texecom Premier Elite 88 system could need these requirements, that would be great :)

Extra points will be awarded if you can briefly describe how we could achieve this/point me in the right direction of a manual or search term so I can see how we might configure this system to behave how we would like :D

I really want to learn the system and don't mind reading the manuals etc. Having someone point me in the right direction however would really help.

Thanks

Good luck with reading the manuals, whilst they have improved to some degree, it still requires some understanding of alarms.

Yes you can auto rearm an area with all the Elite panels.

I will say this again, you need to map out what you want and how you want it to work.

That's the entire system, not just one area.

For Example:- a customer wanted to part arm the house and full arm the other two areas in the house and wanted to do it as simple as possible.

to get it to work the way they wanted used an output to a latch key zone, the output programmed to area A part set 1, the keypad to have quick arm Area A, so to arm it they pressed the part button then tick, the User had access to areas AB and C

The problem to get to that solution the customer wasn't sure how they wanted the system to work and changed there minds several times.

Sure, the rest of the system has had quite a bit of thought and I am confident in how we want it to operate, I just asked about the parts I was unsure about.

I think I know what I need to order now so that should be fun:

1 x Texecom Premier Elite 88 Control Panel
4 x Texecom Premier Elite LCDLP
4 x Texecom Premier Elite Odyssey 5 External Sounder
1 x Texecom Premier Elite PSU200XP
2 x Texecom Premier Elite 8XP
A bunch of Texecom Premier Elite AMQD for the PIRs
A bunch of Texecom Premier Elite Proximity Tags
A bunch of magnetic door contacts
2 x batteries for the panels

I think this system will satisfy the requirements I set out in the original post, opinions are always welcome though.
If anyone thinks I have missed anything please let me know :)

Thanks secureiam, I will order the USB com and the flasher but we don't want this system connected to the outside world, especially not the internet.
