Open Vent - fully pumped....slow refill, possible airlock?

Late update..... Solved! for the most part!

It was the filter!

I opened the flush valve on the filter and it dribbled at first....and then it something seemed to happen and it became a torrent. I was ready with a bucket.

The only issue I have left to solve is why there is no water coming through the drain cock at the bottom of the hot water cylinder. I assume there must be an airlock in the coil?

Any suggestions for that one? Hose on it and blow? Or hose pipe and force fill?

P.S My filter additions and moved and re-plumbed radiators.....no leaks! Thus far anyway....we shall see once there is a bit of pump pressure.

I think you're confusing yourself again. The drain cock on cylinder is for draining the hot water cylinder not the heating coil - they're supposed to be separate. Are you replacing the cylinder? Is Airlock your favourite word? The drain cock is either not open enough, blocked or the washer is stuck.

Yep, I was confused. When I tried it earlier, hunting for things to bleed, with it fully open it was dribbling just like the central heating drain cock. So without looking at the pipe arrangement on the cylinder properly....I just assumed it was to bleed any air that might be in the coil, hence the same lethargic dribble.

The second time I tried it....nothing came out at all....so as you say....with it being to drain the tank, it must be a stuck washer.

- Thanks for the help....I got there eventually. I may just check/bleed the pump, but....I think the system has filled successfully now.

With regard to the gate valves. Other than the bypass valve are the valves usually open a set amount for some sort of balancing when the system was originally installed?




As I mentioned earlier, the gate valve for the cylinder coil is open less than half way. I have never touched this valve before. So I assume it has always been set like that. Just curious.
