I'm after some white wall paint that can be scrubbed clean.

It can be either or eggshell and hopefully not too pricey :D

Does anyone have any recommendations?

Do you mean a kitchen paint? Or a garage paint?

Which is more important to you - cheap, or good?

Thanks for the response

I'm after white paint that will go on the walls in my entire house

So bedroom, kitchen, bathroom and landing areas

There will be high traffic so would be nice to be able to scrub clean occasionally

Ideally i want good paint that won't break the bank e.g no farrow and ball :D

You can wash and wipe clean an ordinary vinyl silk emulsion.

Anything else will cost more.

I'm very happy with Dulux.

"Value" "No Nonsense" and "Essential" cheap own-brands are rubbish

Matt holds dirt and is hard to get clean.

Scrubbing a paint will wear off the surface over time.

Thank you.

I'm concerned that vinyl silk will give a bit too much shine.

Would a vinyl matt or acrylic durable matt work?

Looking online, johnstones appear to sell acrylic durable matt which they claim is 'washable' and can be used in high traffic..

Do you have any experience with this brand /type of paint?

matt holds dirt and is difficult to clean. The opposite of what you say you want.

Acrylic, AKA "kitchen and bathroom" paint is more expensive. The opposite of what you say you want.

Could you suggest so brands and paints you'd recommend?

My budget would be up to £65 for 2.5l of paint

!!!!!!

You could gold-plate the walls for that.

To paint your house you might need about 50 litres of paint. I will deliver some to your house anywhere in England for only £995. I will throw in a free roller.

Albany durable matt - Brewers own brand - I've scrubbed ours with a scotchbrite pad (y) Brewers are S.E based.

Observe that you can get 10litres for less than the price of 2.5litres

This one is good

Others will have different preferences

there are often "special offers" just before a Bank Holiday weekend.

Look at other retailers in your area.

PBW is generally cheaper than colours.

If you have any new, damp plaster, you need a different paint until it has dried out.
Thanks for the suggestion

The price is right, especially for the 10l tub :D

Only concern is that silk may be too glossy /shiny on the walls.. Hence why i was considering eggshell

If i can nab a small sample of the paint you suggested that maybe the way forward..

And i do have some fresh plaster too ;)

I used dulux trade matt white, thinned down with 50% water

That's handy, as i live close to a brewers

Thanks for the suggestion

for plaster that is still drying out, you need a non-vinyl matt, which is porous.

Dulux Trade Supermatt is one, others may be branded "paint for new plaster"

you can paint over it with your finish once it is fully dry.

I did walls and ceilings in most of my house three years ago, and am doing part of my girlfriend's flat now, with Dulux Trade Supermatt white, slightly thinned as per instructions. Leyland Trade Hardwearing Acrylic Eggshell, neat, for the woodwork. Very happy with both.
