Unable to lock arms of new rotary dryer

Hi. If you go to 4m50s of this youtube video, you'll see how easy it is for him to lock the arms in position. My one isn't the same model but the principle is the same. However, I just can't get the two bits to meet, never mind lock. I'm pushing upwards with a LOT of force but still can't reach the locking ring.

Is anyone familiar with this problem and how to solve it? Thank you.

From past experience, it'll be the lines stopping it, you sort of have to shoogle them round a bit where they're tight.

Check that the strings aren't looped around the arms. My one can do that and it's annoying
