Have had a Hetas Registered fitter survey my bungalow to install an Inset wood burning stove. My existing chimney is situated on the roof ridge, approx 1.7 m from the gable end of the neighbouring semi detached two storey house. There is an opening window in the neighbouring gable end wall.
Fitter said it will be possible to install the stove but I am concerned about the height the chimney stack and pot would need to be to comply with Building Regs.
Can anybody offer advice please

Thankyou for your reply lostinthelight, my concern is building regs and the distance between the existing chimneyand the neighbouring property (less than 2.3m)

Was existing chimney working from time house built, was the other house built at the same time with the window in its present position or has it been added when an extension was done?

Our bungalow has had open fires since 1950 when the house was built. The fire has recently been swept by a chimney sweep but getting downdraft. The gable end of the house next door, which adjoins our house was built 1800s. Not sure if window original or not.
Thankyou
