I'm fitting an outside light and I want to make sure that my wiring plan is okay

I plan to

1. Replace existing 1 gang switch (which controls an internal light) with a 2 gang switch so that it can controls both internal light and external PIR light

2. Feed 1mm cable from switch connecting brown wire to COM and Blue wire (with brown tape) to L1

3. Open up existing ceiling rose a use new piece of 1mm cable as follows. Brown wire to Loop and blue wire to neutral

4. Take the end of both cables (switch cable and ceiling rose cable) and connect the brown cables together with a wago connector

5. Connect Blue wire from ceiling rose to neutral in outside light

6. Connect Blue wire from switch to Live on outside light. Place brown tape on this

Is my wiring plan okay?

Is their a way to simplify my wiring?

I will connect the earth cable as i go along as well :D

can you make the switch join with a junction/wago box near to the ceiling rose, so then you only need take 1 twin & earth wire out to the light

Thanks for the comment.

Yes, i have access for a junction/wago box.

The ceiling rose is being replaced with a LED downlight

I'm at the circuit and i am a little confused on how to do this.

Would you mind explaining please?

In the attached the wire with red marking is from the switch and white connector block is leads to my downlight

Once i have everything working, i will tidy my wiring up and use a wago junction box

do you know how to use a multimeter
Looks like you have a
Live & Neutral coming IN/OUT - white lead
Live & Neutral coming OUT/IN - Grey Lead
Then the Red marked Switch cable for the downlight, Black should be marked with RED/ NOW Brown Tape

You will then have a lead coming from the new switch
2. Feed 1mm cable from switch connecting brown wire to COM and Blue wire (with brown tape) to L1
3. Open up existing ceiling rose a use new piece of 1mm cable as follows. Brown wire to Loop and blue wire to neutral
5. Connect Blue wire from ceiling rose to neutral in outside light
6. Connect Blue wire from switch to Live on outside light. Place brown tape on this

You have
1mm from switch - Brownwire , connects to the LIVE IN / OUT wago
1mm from switch - BLUEwire / with Brown tape , connects to the New wago

New Twin & Earth, from the light
Blue connects to the Neutrals in the Existing Wagos
Brown connects to the New WAGO which has the BLUEwire / with Brown tape from the switch
Earth connected , and ALL need to have Green/Yellow Sleeving

1mm from switch - BLUEwire / with Brown tape , connects to the New wago

New Twin & Earth, from the light
Blue connects to the Neutrals in the Existing Wagos
Are you referring to the white connector block here?

I'd also like to point out that the grey cable was inserted by me.

All the cables in the light fitting were originally white, however one of the cables was very short, so i extended this (with a wago fitting and some grey cable)

Thanks for the advice. I will tape up all the switch live cables, use junction boxes and add earth sheathing too
