Drainage is good, it runs off onto a lower level. I’ll leave the insulation, I think it would be good between the concrete and the tub but then it would be touching the sand so might get eroded or something. Apparently the tub has the spray foam stuff on its underside so I might look at insulating the cabinet if there’s room.
I prefer Sex Pond TBQH.
Brother in law hired one of the inflatable ones in December for a family get together. Took 3 days to get upto 40c and as soon as you put the bubbles on it lost heat. Got to admit it was good and i didn't go in but the missus says it wasn't cold even when getting out. With the solid type tubs you have more chance of holding the heat in. I not condoning it but if you have a lamppost out the back of the street it could accidently get wired into that lol. Also i prefer Sex pond too.

I’m still thinking of putting 25mm of Celotex over the top. My only concern would be that the edges of it would only have a bit of membrane between them and the sand.
Is Celotex suitable for outside? Can someone talk me in/out of the idea scientifically please?

I didn’t really want to do it, I was rough yesterday and today I thought I’d best get on with it while the weather was good. I got my son to shovel the ballast and bring the cement and I chucked it in the mixer then in the hole.
I just e-mailed Celotex about using it outside but I think I’ve made my mind up to use it anyway.
Ian i wouldn't bother with the grass. I'd go for https://www.screwfix.com/p/capital-valley-plastics-ltd-damp-proof-membrane-black-1200ga-3-x-4m/73066 then you can sandwich the celotex between two sheets and seal it.
You could have a lawn around the tub if it the short soft stuff. Easy on the bare feet but still grippy
