So I went to a job this morning, and customer complaining of intermittent heating, when I asked several questions, she said sometimes the white box (receiver) has a red light and flashing yellow light (switch). When checking it out it works fine. Boiler is Vaillant EcoTec pro 2012 ish model. I checked for a loose connection and ended up fitting a new receiver and handset, to include it 400mm away from boiler as per mi’s.

What I did notice was RT connection was going to common and live going to switched in the receiver end. Would this have been the cause, even though the fault has only just started happening?

What wireless stat is it? I've not had much exposure to the Vaillant wireless stats, but I thought that they connected to the 'Bus + -" terminals rather than the RT terminals.

Hi Stem, thanks for the reply mate. It was a Bosstherm (made by Siemens) one, replaced with a Siemens RDH100rf. So these are 24...230vac switching.

If that's the a version with LX (common) and L1 to control the boiler, then it's only a switch so it won't matter which way around it's wired.

Yes it is, so I’m guessing maybe a goosed stat/receiver?
