appliance pipe work

ok, after spending money and spending ages re-sorting out the pipe work under the sink, i've discovered there was already a waste pipe and water valve ready for a new dishwasher installation...

BUT

1. The valve is not opening. Do these levers lock? It's in a new-build flat and looks untouched.

2. Is this really where the waste pipe goes? None of my parts are fitting it. What waste hose connector do I need? Thanks

The isolator valve is unlikely to be seized up if it's new. The blue handle pulls upward towards you ,it won't push back toward the wall ( if that's what you are trying ).
And as per your other thread ,the standpipe is for the appliance waste hose ,just drops into the standpipe. But it has a cap which needs to be removed first

Thanks. How do i make the hose a tight fit? Won't odours come back up otherwise?

- the water valve is really tight. I'm breaking the plastic trying to turn it. (turning it the correct way)

Hose does not need to be a tight fit. Odours are prevented from entering the room when the trap is full of water. It's been capped because if not in use there is no water in the trap.
If supply valve is stuck ,remove the screw in the blue handle ,and remove the handle. The shaft it sits on is flat profile ,turn it with a spanner or grips to free it up.( Turn main supply off first )!!
Edit.. just looked at pic again ,the valve turns toward the wall...oops.

thanks Terry. So just dangling in there a few inches? I'm doing a test rinse now.
I gave up on that valve and just using the new setup with the T valve I installed. Could've saved about £40 by paying a bit more attention. lesson learnt

If your washing machine came with the 180deg cold former - the u shaped plastic piece in the centre of this pic -

then use that on the end of the hose and then stick that with the hose in it into the top of the stand pipe.
