Well... how on earth am I supposed to raise the boiler as it's touching the kitchen ceiling now. Have it in the middle of two floors?

Can it be relocated to landing cupboard, a bedroom cupboard, or even the loft?

I was going to say before the pictures the tradesman can't make a home uninhabitable without finding alternative accommodation
Capping the gas does not a make a house un inhabitable..gas engineers do it frequently.

Agreed if there is alternative heating, or during the summer.
Lol...I have had BG cap off supplies at all times of the year...Never ever a mention of alternative housing...So you really suggesting if a gas leak is capped...BG immediately find you somewhere to live?????

I hired a builder to expand the area around the flue pipe. Part of the roof had to go/slant.
I then asked another gas engineer to come round. He identified that the flue pipe wasn't sealed around the wall , hence CO gas was coming back inside. He sealed it, did some tests and gave the all clear.

I have also bought and placed a CO alarm right next to the boiler, just in case.

Still confused how the other gas engineers who turned up said I HAD TO get a new boiler.

Is there a clear 600 mm distance between the end of the flue and the nearest piece of roofing.

Meanwhile, the next doors have built this fence for some strange reason even though the right-hand side is ours and this fence they built is over 6m!

Perhaps to help avoid getting the plume from your boiler wafting in to one of their open windows?

In short and as other have alluded to, that extension should never have been built without moving the boiler.

You will get different answers from different engineers, some will want to avoid difficult situations, some will tell you the way it is, some will say its repairable (if it can be) some wont want to take it on and say it isn't repairable - unfortunately human nature dictates that there will always be more than one answer.

At least on here you will get the consensus for free - that consensus is - you can't have a gas boiler in such a location with it's flue exiting where it is just now. You will not get another boiler legally installed into that same location. Time to rethink where a new boiler could be installed.
