Hi All

Think I may have posted this query a while ago, but been unwell for months so apologies for that.

I need to replace weather cover where Sky cable enters house. (See attached) What you see if the silicone gel remaining after outside cover fell off. I have new external cover and wish to replace:

1. Should I leave existing silicone and attach cover to this?
2. What type of silicone do I need? (Obviously not sealant?)

Thanks

Use a polymer adhesive, Stixall, Sticks Like S**t etc. Leave the other stuff there if it is stuck fast.

Thanks for prompt response. I’ve tried a few adhesives, but cover falls straight off. Can I get your stuff on DIY stores?

I must admit I've just stuck these on with clear sanitary sealant in the past and they've still been there when I've moved out again... I agree it's not the best product for the job though!

You can buy Sticks like S**t and various other grab adhesives from the likes of Screwfix. If this is your only need for it you may as well buy one of the cheaper brands like Gripfill - they don't last once they're opened so you'll end up throwing it away after just this job. Solvent based adhesives tend to be better.

Failing that drill a couple of holes through into the nice soft pointing and screw it on with a touch of black paint on the screws.(y)

Sticks like sh##te doesn’t work Hanging on by a fingernail. The plastic cover will evidently not bond to the existing silicone, which was my initial fear. Either have to remove that, or drill??

Thanks. Annoyed I was naive enough to think Stick like .. would work.

As said a couple of screws and plugs touch of paint (black easier to match) on them and that's it.(y)
