Anyone else noticed a decline in SF 15mm tube quality lately?
I bought some last week which was out of round at several places along a 3m length with the rest being ok.
I thought it may be a bad batch so went to another store 20 miles away where they went through several packs but we're all the same.
Fault doesn't look visible but spinning tube between fingers ridges can be felt which makes compression fitting olives and nuts difficult to fit on in tight areas.

Like everything else the manufacturers have reduced the thickness and the quality of the copper and increased the price which means that it doesn't stand up to the poor handling that it gets in the big box stores or even plumbers merchants for that matter.

From my experience they get the tube couriered to the branches (I've come across the labels before) and it gets bent/squashed in the vans.
You can only take so much back so I gave up buying from Screwfix.

Seems odd that the damage was very similar over two stores 20 miles apart . Although damaged they were still dead straight ...Bought some more now from Wickes which works out under six quid each with discount

Not that odd - they'll be served by the same distribution warehouse, possibly even the same final delivery lorry. It's probably a bad batch.

I get all my tube from Wickes, seems decent quality and is the cheapest around on their 15% Off special trade days
