Siemens built in combination microwave HB86P575B

Heard a crackling sound today when I used my Siemens built in microwave, and looking through the glass window I saw some sparking inside on the ceiling. Looking closer, I can see where some of the metal has burnt away.

Before I buy a new microwave, is this repairable, and what is the fault?

Is it worth repairing for the price of microwaves these days?

There may be additional issues so Personally I would bite the bullet and get a new one

Its a built in combination microwave that cost £900 in 2014 :(
Matches the built in oven below it.
I'll probably have to play safe and replace it, but then they won't match

With an incomplete shield, it might well leak out microwave electromagnetic radiation. You could attempt to repair the shield with more metal with suitably sized holes... but how certain can you be that it's right unless you have some way to measure.

I phoned Siemens who say it probably needs a complete whole new carcass but it’s an obsolete model with no spare parts available at all. Sounds like it’s now a 6 year old £900 piece of scrap!!

As it’s a combi, i might keep it so I can still use the oven & grill, but stop using it as a microwave, and buy a separate microwave for the kitchen worktop
