Siemens/Neff quality ? Am I mad to buy new appliances

We currently have two Siemens 12 year old built in ovens, one a microwave combo and the other a conventional oven. They have been excellent products and we are considering replacing with new Siemens/Neff equivalent models. There is nothing wrong with ovens, just a desire to buy the next 12 years trouble free cooking. The model variants, hide & slide, small or large TFT, connected, etc etc seem endless and maybe a bit gimmicky.

The Trustpilot reviews for current Neff and Siemens is not good but needs to be kept in perspective in relation to the numbers in use. It does not appear any better for other brands. We have just scrapped a six year old Miele washing machine which has been the worst piece of junk ever to cross the threshold of our house.

Apologies for so many words, the question please is "Has the current quality/reliability of new Neff and Siemens ovens gone down so much, in relation to our 12 year old kit, that we would be mad to replace them unless we are forced to". Also any thoughts on slide and hide, it is a gimmick.

Personally, I think the quality of just about everything these days has gone downhill - everything seems to be built to a price and not a quality.

They're all made by BSH.

I find the Bosch-branded ones seem a bit more durable, possibly because the volumes are higher, so (like Toyota cars) they discover any weaknesses quickly and can put them right. Siemens and Neff are slightly upmarket so sold in smaller numbers and often more complicated. "Cutting Edge Technology" is always going to be relatively new and untried. What you call "gimmicky"

BTW if I was getting a new oven, I'd get pyrolitic. Owners seem enthralled.

I worked at B/S/H here in Kettering. They are great products BUT if something goes wrong, they charge the earth for call outs and replacement parts. I also think the engineers they send either did a 2 day course or they were given the service manual for every model they service in a kinder egg. As mentioned, a puppy is for life, electricals are just until next Christmas.
