I have an AEG Competence electric oven. Yesterday we noticed that the fan was still going hours after we had turned off the oven. I switched off at the plug and left it all night. When I switched the plug back on this morning the fan started immediately so I'm assuming we need a new fan. Is this a DIY job? Roughly how much would a new fan cost? Any idea of how much a technician might charge to do it (inside M25 ). Any other advice would be most appreciated.

so I'm assuming we need a new fan.

If the fan is running then the fan is probably OK, the fault will be in the device that controls the fan,

Which fan is it ? the fan that circulates hot air inside the oven cavity or the fan that circulates cooling air around the casing of the oven.

If it is the cooling fan the faulty device will probably be a temperature sensor.

If it is the hot air fan then the fault will probably be in the oven controller

It's the fan that cools the oven. So is the sensor part of the fan? I'm getting the feeling that this isn't going to be a job I can tackle.

Without having a service manual for the oven it is not possible to where the sensor is fitted or what type of sensor it is.

In some ovens it is a device like this.
