Electric trips when turning oven on Beko DC5422 cooker

Hi,

My oven just stopped working. All hobs and the grill work as normal but when I turn my oven on the electric trips.

I've read that it could be the thermal cut-out or the thermostats have burnt out or have turned faulty.

I've seen people saying the their oven is cutting out as well as the back right hob but
I can't seem to find anyone who has had the same issue but with everything else still working.

I've noticed the thermostat in the oven looks old compared to the one in the grill that looks new still. I was thinking I could swap them around if that was the problem?

I've opened the back of the cooker and don't know where to start really? Thanks for any help or advice

You need to be able to test for a short circuit between live & neutral if it is an mcb. that is tripping or one of the components is shorting to earth if it is the rcd. that trips. As you say you have no clue how to go further I would suggest calling out an electrician to establish which part you need & replacing it for you. Should be fairly inexpensive.

In your middle pic, it looks like the black and white wires at the left could be for the light, and the one next to them with the yellow stripe could be the thermostat. The middle wires are probably feeding the oven element. Notice the orange and yellow wires also go to something at the bottom - probably a second element.

If you feel confident, SWITCH THE POWER OFF AT THE WALL OR AT THE CONSUMER UNIT IF NECESSARY, remove AND ISOLATE the spade connector wires to the bottom element and see if the oven still trips your circuit when you power back up and switch on. Then try the same with the top element. If it stops tripping with one of the elements disconnected your problem is probably that element. If not, then carry on doing the same to any other components until you find the faulty one. Remember it could also be the clock/timer.

A while ago my cooker circuit was tripping occasionally, and the problem stopped when I insulated the bare spade terminals on the connection plate - the bit partially out of shot to the right of the middle pic where the power enters the cooker body.

edit... don't remove the middle wire from the top element, it looks like it's the earth.

A oven element is mineral insulated, if the seal at end fails it will draw in moisture and trip the RCD, although some times they can be dried out, the fault tends to return, so replacement is normal cure.
