Ok had a step build on front of my house

builder put brick foundation and placed slabs on top, about 7 hours after the work was done noticed slabs weren’t straight so builder popped back and taped side of slabs with rubber mallet and lined it all up

I’m worried this had damaged the setting of the cement or is it still in its soft state and will set ok?

Seriously ? :)

We also had rain last night and the cement looks a dark wet colour will it still dry ok?

Yes, if you call him back to do it again first thing he will do is stand in it to see if the slabs are rocking so you might as well make sure they are before you call him.

I think it will dry ok in a couple of days.

Ok thanks

So once a slab / brick is laid in cement is that it, it can’t be moved or is there a period of time to adjust it into position without effecting anything ?

thanks

There’s a period of time, 7 hours seems a long time but might still work.

Cement products tend to set within a few hours, and then harden over a few days or weeks.

If the bond is broken during the setting process, it won't be re-formed.

Like Ian said, jump up and down on it, give it a gentle kick. If it moves call the builder. If not don't worry.
