So what's classed as essential?

Told can get it on line, however bank thinks it may be fraud when I pay council tax so card closed, so with no bankers card, can't use any outlet not taking cash, in other words, can't buy a thing.

OK all I want is Milk, but the idea of doing things on line it seems has been stopped by the banks, same as food delivery, so my boiler has stopped working, but I have limited amount of wood, so open fire if cold for next 12 weeks.

But post lady put stuff through the door today, how long before I can pick it up, clearly must pick it up before next post arrives, I will run out of Milk and bread, but I have some beer, so should be OK.

Essential is relative to the situation.
If uou are trying to decorate a nursery before the imminent arrival of a new born baby and run out of wallpaper paste, (you bought enough but the dog knocked your bucket over), then you may think it is essential to go out and get some more. So you need to stop and ask yourself a few questions;
1/ Will the baby suffer, emotionally, physically, Psychologically etc if the job is not finished? No
2/ Will it alter the state of the world if I don't finish? No
3/ Will it stop the baby getting the virus? No

So based on this simple check it is not essential to rush out and get more paste. However, there are idiots who would deem it essential just so they could finish the job.
They would then rush out and buy the last 6 packets of paste , just in case, the dog knocks the bucket over again.

I just don't see why you have to bring the dog into it.

There are varying reports on virus lifespan on hard surfaces which ranges from 48hrs to 9days.

Im wiping stuff like shopping etc with anti bacterial wipes like dettol (they kill viruses too).

Doesn't that render useless all the other measures to avoid it?
Its why you're told to wash your hands and not touch your face. And why staying home is advisable over going to a park where you might touch something with the virus on.

But yes, that the virus is tougher than most is part of why it's so infectious.

Yes I realise that.

Maybe useless was too strong a word, but just thought if it survives on surfaces for days then the other mothods of avoidance become less important than not touching anything.

Incidentally, have all parking charges in the UK been waived so that no one need touch the meters or machines?

Reports on the radio this morning about people deliberately coughing spitting and sneezing on people

Being used as a weapon

Not if the correct infection control protocol is followed:

All the time a person is contained within their own quarantined space they can touch or lick whatever they like.

Once a person leaves that area, they must not touch their face, nose, eyes, hair, so anything they touch with the virus cant get inside the body.
On return the person must wash hands.

Washing hands is to prevent transfer from surfaces to face.

ASAIK the virus entry point is the mouth, nose or eyes.
It would seem to me, infection from airborne transfer carries the most risk.

What about everything they bought last time they went out?
Tea bag box, milk bottle, jam jar, cabbage, apple.

Ok. As above, what about everything they just bought?

Exactly - so, two meters unless windy.

Obviously every little helps and I didn't mean to make a fuss about this but it requires a lot more thought.

I am supposed to stay in - unless I have to go out.
I always did that.

This thread got me wondering....

Along the lines of "Which would win in a fight ; a grizzly bear, or a great white shark?"

If I went around a supermarket (with a basket, handling food etc), then scratched my @RSE in the car park afterwards, which would win ; the 'rona, or the germs from me crack?
:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Some bloke coughed on me today, due to road rage. I won't go into it. But I did laugh thinking, is that all you've got
