Hi, i was hoping someone could help me with our alarm system, it's driving us nuts.

we're not able to get help from our installer. he had in the past helped with issues but is now now longer responsive.

the internal alarm has been going off every morning around 7. putting the code in stops the alarm but a few mins later it goes off again. the display reports a tamper issue. I assumed this is because of a low battery on one of the sensors so i've ordered new batteries. in the meantime i wanted to 'disable' the alarm to stop it waking everyone up in the morning. we're all at home during this coronavirus worry so not too concerned about the alarm being armed and functional for now. we dont enable it during the night, only when we're going out - which we're not going to be doing anytime soon.

i've tried today to disable the alarm (following instructions the installer had given me previously), i think i've gone and messed up the system completely. it's not responding to button presses. it beeps for a while then stops. then the inside alarm goes off for a while - and the code no longer works!

it's now periodically beeping (very loudly) for a while then stops again. it looks like it's gone into some error mode but i have no way of getting it to return to normal.

i've removed the fuse at the back (in a box fixed to the wall, not the unit itself), but that doesnt seem to do anything.

I've called another company to come and have a look at it but due to the current situation they're only doing emergency callouts to decommission the entire system. before i go down that drastic route, i wanted to know if anyone has any ideas on what i can do to just 'switch it off' for now, at least until the new batteries arrive. is there a 'reset to manufacturer settings' option? when i press 'D' on the system it asks for my code but the code no longer works. am i being naive about how these things work?

thanks to anyone who can help - this thing is driving us nuts!

update: i've unscrewed the wall unit and taken out the internal backup battery. my ears are still ringing but silence at last :)

i've removed the battery and unplugged the fuse, so there's no power going to it right now.

i'm planning on putting the battery and fuse back (later today) and seeing what happens and whether i still have a functional security system. worst case scenario i've messed it up completely but at least it's not going off randomly! if all that's happened is a system reset and it's gone back to factory settings, that's a big plus.

at one point i was about to whack it with a hammer to get it to shut up!

How old is the system? just might be worth you getting batteries for the whole thing?
