Honestly how difficult can it be......... Rear extension

Hi Scaffers things moving along nicely again and a stroke of luck with the roofline. Yes go with getting the steel fitted as it be a heavy bugger. Speak BCO and he give you the nod on the protection but the Fireline board should be fine. See how much depth you got when the beam in and pack out to skim level. Weather been a pain here too. Sun then rain and wind. Wish it would just rain all day then at least i can plan for building my shed.

Cheers fellas

It's taking shape and that's the motivation right now.

Oak porch will be here month end

2 x sets of bifolds here 1st week april

Just need the steel work in the rear wall then Mr roofy mcroof face can take over

Scaff

Today I have been mainly taking scaffold down and putting up again.

Brickies done well, as its all done, steels are in

Showed them the sack barrow trick to move the steels..... Impressed, one nearly stopped moaning....... I said nearly.

Can anyone suggest any type of companies that are set up just to install the 2 x steels, other than builders. Ideally with all the supporting kit. I was told I need needles thru the walls upstairs, which is a right c@&% as I've refurbed the bathroom and tiled it floor to ceiling and that'll all get fubar.

I have 2 steels that have to go on the corner of the existing house. I don't need it knocking thru yet, just the steels put in.

wow,

i just had a quote to finish the flat roof in grp.

nearly £20k for just over 30meters square not including the roof lanterns

bit much me thinks

Wow. Can't remember the website but one of them gives you the option to calculate everything you need to do it yourself.

M8

When I had a roofer do one before it was £6k in roof felt on 24m square

Thanks, I had a quote for the grp kit and it was about £1k plus the vat.

So near £19k to install the joists, steels and board it out..... I think not

Scaff

Yeah.. Cash or card at local builders merchant for the joists. t & g OSD and insulation etc you bound to get a good deal. And if you look hard you can penny pinch by checking out a few sites that have mis measured roof lanterns. Some good deals out there on the bespoke ones as they need to make some money on them back. Come to think of it i sure it was Firestone EPDM rubber roofing. Sister in law was looking for me and her nephew to do her extension roof and i believe they were good.

Steels are in.

Was a big job, glad I got someone else to do the supports and making ready.

Looking great - I have been watching this thread with great interest.

Out of curiosity how long is the span of the steel that is holding up the existing upper floor. I have a similar detail on my extension and have had a few queries how to get the steel (circa 10m) in around the temporary works. Did you sit the steel between the house and the strong boys before propping? If so was it a drama lifting the steel between the 2? or did you come in from the side.

The span is just under 6m the steel is 203x203x53UC. There's another at 4.8m that picks that up to form a T.

We came in from the side for the 6m one

Cheers. so an 11m span over 2 steels? We don't have side access which seems to be causing the issues.
